Detailed Inspection of the Cruise Rollers of the Inboard and Outboard Flaps
WARNING:
PUT THE SAFETY DEVICES AND THE WARNING NOTICES IN POSITION BEFORE YOU START A TASK ON OR NEAR:
- THE FLIGHT CONTROLS
- THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES
- THE LANDING GEAR AND THE RELATED DOORS
- COMPONENTS THAT MOVE.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE GROUND SAFETY-LOCKS ARE IN POSITION ON THE LANDING GEAR. THIS WILL PREVENT UNWANTED MOVEMENT OF THE LANDING GEAR, AND THUS POSSIBLE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND/OR EQUIPMENT.
WARNING:
MAKE SURE THAT THE TRAVEL RANGES OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS SURFACES ARE CLEAR. MOVEMENT OF FLIGHT CONTROLS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU USE CONSUMABLE MATERIALS. OBEY THE MATERIAL MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS AND YOUR LOCAL REGULATIONS.
CAUTION:
BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
- DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
- MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
CAUTION:
DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION SYSTEM (TPS) ON THE INSPECTION AREA. IF YOU APPLY TPS ON THE INSPECTION AREA, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

A. Safety Precautions
(1) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
Subtask 57-53-00-865-148-A (1) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
(2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
(3) Put the WARNING NOTICE(S) in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.

D. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable wing.
(2) Remove the flap kink seals (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-61-000-002).

E. Preparation of the Inspection Area
(1) Make sure that inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure(1) Make sure that inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(2) If not, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and the Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
Subtask 57-53-00-220-072-A
A. Inspection of the Cruise Rollers of the Inboard and Outboard Flaps
(1) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and/or the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do this procedure.
(2) Examine the cruise rollers of the outboard flap for wear:
(a) Measure the wear of the cruise rollers:
1 Make sure that wear F is not more than 1 mm (0.039 in.).
2 If wear F is more than 1 mm (0.039 in.), replace the AIPC 57-53-23-14-054 ROLLER (1).
3 Make sure that wear G is not more than 1 mm (0.039 in.).
4 If wear G is more than 1 mm (0.039 in.), replace the AIPC 57-53-23-14-142 BEARING (2).
(3) Examine the cruise roller of the inboard flap for wear:
(a) Measure the wear of the cruise roller:
1 Make sure that wear F is not more than 1 mm (0.039 in.).
2 If wear F is more than 1 mm (0.039 in.), replace the AIPC 57-52-21-15-320 ROLLER (1).
5. Close-up(1) If necessary, use the FLASHLIGHT and/or the MIRROR - INSPECTION to do this procedure.
(2) Examine the cruise rollers of the outboard flap for wear:
(a) Measure the wear of the cruise rollers:
1 Make sure that wear F is not more than 1 mm (0.039 in.).
2 If wear F is more than 1 mm (0.039 in.), replace the AIPC 57-53-23-14-054 ROLLER (1).
3 Make sure that wear G is not more than 1 mm (0.039 in.).
4 If wear G is more than 1 mm (0.039 in.), replace the AIPC 57-53-23-14-142 BEARING (2).
(3) Examine the cruise roller of the inboard flap for wear:
(a) Measure the wear of the cruise roller:
1 Make sure that wear F is not more than 1 mm (0.039 in.).
2 If wear F is more than 1 mm (0.039 in.), replace the AIPC 57-52-21-15-320 ROLLER (1).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Install the flap kink seals (Ref. AMM TASK 27-54-61-400-006).

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Remove the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION from the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Fully retract the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).

(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the SAFETY BARRIERS.
(4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
