CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TEMPORARY PROTECTION SYSTEM (TPS) ON THE INSPECTION AREA. IF YOU APPLY TPS ON THE INSPECTION AREA, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever (panel 114VU) to tell persons not to operate the flaps.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the applicable zone 587(687).
   (2) Put the LIGHT SOURCE - SPARK-PROOF adjacent to the inspection area.
   (3) Remove and discard the covers from the inspection holes in the lower surface of the tab.
   (4) Make sure that the inspection holes are clear of unwanted material.

E. Preparation for Inspection
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE RACEWAYS.
  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
   (2) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the applicable inspection area.
   (3) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-53-00-280-068-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Special Detailed Inspection (Endoscope) of Outboard Double Slotted Flap Tab Front Spar, LH/RH
   (1) Do a special detailed inspection of the internal surface of the front spar of the tab LH/RH. Refer to the NTM 575323 for the inspection procedure.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 575300 for the correct repair procedure. If the defect is not included in this repair, you must request a procedure from AIRBUS.
5. Close-up
Subtask 57-53-00-410-091-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Close Access
   (1) Remove the spark-proof lamp from the inspection area.
   (2) Use Adhesive Film Tape-- Aluminium Foil - (Material No.05RAB9) , cut to the correct dimensions, to make new covers for the inspection holes.
   (3) Install the new covers on the inspection holes.
   (4) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (2) Fully retract the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).
