A. Safety Precautions
   (1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

B. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
   (1) Fully extend the flaps (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-008).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT) below the applicable wing trailing edge at flap track 2, zone 531 (631).

4. Procedure
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE TASKS ON THE WING TRAILING EDGE:

  • DO NOT CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL CABLE INSTALLATIONS.
  • MAKE SURE THAT THE ELECTRICAL CABLES ARE INSTALLED CORRECTLY. INCORRECT INSTALLATION CAN CAUSE DAMAGE.

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean:
  • the rollers (1), (2) and (5) of the flap track carriage assembly (4)
  • the component interface and the adjacent area.

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer Wing, Inboard Flap Track 2 Carriage Rollers
   (1) Examine the rollers (1), (2) and (5) of the carriage assembly (4), to make sure that:
  • there is no corrosion
  • there are no cracks
  • the rollers are correctly attached
  • the rollers are symmetrical
  • there is no distortion of the rollers or their attachment pivot bolts
  • there is not too much wear of the rollers (1), (2) and (5) or signs of grooves or marks on the flap track (3).
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 575100 for the correct repair procedure.

A. Lubrication
   (1) Use a GUN - GREASE filled with Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened - (Material No.03GBD1) or Synthetic Ester base Grease-General Purpose Low Temp - (Material No.03HBD9) or Synthetic Oil base Grease-General Purpose Lithium Thickened Low Temp. - (Material No.03GBC1) to lubricate the flap track carriage-rollers. Lubricate all greasers until new grease comes out of the applicable roller.

B. Remove the safety clip(s) and the tag(s) and close this(these) circuit breaker(s):

   (2) Retract the flaps fully (Ref. AMM TASK 27-50-00-866-009).

D. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the access platform(s).
   (2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (3) Remove the safety barriers.
   (4) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
