   (1) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (2) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

   (1) Fully extend the slats (Ref. AMM TASK 27-80-00-866-004).
   (2) Make sure that the 98D27803000000 LOCKING TOOL-FLAP SLAT LEVER,INT. POSITION is installed on the flap/slat control lever.

D. Get Access
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT) in position below the applicable wing leading edge at slat 5, zone 515(615).

E. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do the inspection of the area.
   (2) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the inspection area of slat track 11 shown.
   (3) Use a Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) to clean the inspection area of slat track 12 shown.
   (4) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).
4. Procedure
Subtask 57-46-00-210-055-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
   (1) Examine slat 5, the attachment links on slat tracks 11 and 12, the side plates, the track rib lugs and the track lugs. Make sure that:
     (a) There is no corrosion, cracks or damage.
     (b) The sealant is in a serviceable condition.
     (c) If necessary, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 574000) for the correct repair procedure.
   (2) Examine each slat attachment bolt on slat tracks 11 or 12 as follows:
NOTE: Only one attachment bolt can be removed, examined and installed at a time.
     (a) Remove one of the slat attachment bolts (15), (16), (17), (18), (3), (7), (10) and (14) from slat tracks 11 or 12 as follows:
       1 Remove the bolt (15), (16), (17) or (18) (Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-67-000-001).
       2 For the bolt (3):
         a Remove and discard the cotter pin (19) from the nut (1).
         b Remove the nut (1), the washer (2) and the bolt (3) with the eccentric bush (4).
       3 For the bolt (7):
         a Remove and discard the cotter pin (19) from the nut (5).
         b Remove the nut (5), the washer (6) and the bolt (7).
       4 For the bolt (10):
         a Remove and discard the cotter pin (19) from the nut (8).
         b Remove the nut (8), the washer (9) and the bolt (10).
       5 For the bolt (14):
         a Remove and discard the cotter pin (19) from the nut (11).
         b Remove the nut (11), the washer (12) and the bolt (14) with the eccentric bush (13).
     (b) Examine the attachment bolt. Make sure that:
       1 There is no corrosion or damage.
       2 The shank of the bolt is not worn.
       3 The hole of the bolt is not worn or damaged.
       4 If necessary, discard the worn/damaged slat attachment bolt.
     (c) Install the removed bolt (3), (7), (10), (14), (15), (16), (17) or (18) on slat tracks 11 or 12 as follows:
NOTE: If you discarded the worn/damaged slat attachment bolt, it is necessary to install a new one.
       1 Clean the recess area of the bolt (3), (7), (10) or (14) with solvent and dry air.
       2 Apply Non Hardening Jointing Putty-High Temp. Area - Structure (Material No.06LDG2) on the recess area of the removed bolt (3), (7), (10) or (14).
       3 For the bolt (3):
         a Install the eccentric bush (4) with the bolt (3), the washer (2) and the nut (1).
         b TORQUE the nut (1) to between 1.35 and 1.20 m.daN (119.47 and 106.19 lbf.in ) T.
         c Safety the nut (1) with the new
AIPC 27-84-62-08-010 COTTER PIN (19).
       4 For the bolt (7):
         a Install the bolt (7), the washer (6) and the nut (5).
         b TORQUE the nut (5) to between 1.70 and 1.50 m.daN (12.54 and 11.06 lbf.ft )
T.
         c Safety the nut (5) with the new
AIPC 27-84-62-08-010 COTTER PIN (19).
       5 For the bolt (10):
         a Install the bolt (10), the washer (9) and the nut (8).
         b TORQUE the nut (8) to between 1.35 and 1.20 m.daN (119.47 and 106.19 lbf.in )
T.
         c Safety the nut (8) with the new
AIPC 27-84-62-08-010 COTTER PIN (19).
       6 For the bolt (14):
         a Install the eccentric bush (13) with the bolt (14), the washer (12) and the nut (11).
         b TORQUE the nut (11) to between 1.35 and 1.20 m.daN (119.47 and 106.19 lbf.in )
T.
         c Safety the nut (11) with the new
AIPC 27-84-62-07-010 COTTER PIN (19).
       7 Install the removed bolt (15), (16), (17) or (18) (
Ref. AMM TASK 27-84-67-400-002).
Subtask 57-46-00-210-055-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Inspection
   (1) Do a detailed inspection of the slat tracks 11 and 12 attachments at slat 5.
This includes:
  • The track rib lugs
  • The track lugs
  • The links
  • The side plates.
Do this inspection on the left and right sides for damage or discontinuities.
   (2) Make sure that there is no:
     (a) Corrosion damage:
If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 512200 for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.
     (b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):
If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 511100 for the damage types, classification and corrective action.
   (3) If necessary, refer to the Structural Repair Manual SRM 574000 for the correct repair procedure.
