A. Safety Precautions
(1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(3) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 3M (10 FT)- ADJUSTABLE in position below the fuel pump fairings in zone 540(640).
(2) Remove the fuel pump fairings (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-49-000-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-20-00-110-087-A

A. Preparation for Inspection
(1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean:

the area of the bottom skin closed by the fuel pump fairings
the bottom skin adjacent to the area closed by the fuel pump fairings.

Subtask 57-20-00-220-052-A

B. Detailed Visual Inspection
(1) Examine the bottom skin in the inspection area. Carefully move the wiring harness, as necessary, so that all of the skin is examined.
Make sure that:

there is no corrosion or damage
there are no scratches or scores
there are no loose or damaged fasteners
the surface protection is in the correct condition.

(2) If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

5. Close-up
Subtask 57-20-00-410-087-A

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the wiring harness is in the correct position.
(2) Install the fuel pump fairings (Ref. AMM TASK 28-21-49-400-001).

B. Removal of Equipment
(1) Remove the safety barriers.
(2) Remove the access platform(s).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
(4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
