   (1) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (2) In the cockpit:
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats
  • Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) in position to tell persons not to start the engines.
   (3) On panel 115VU:
  • Make sure that ENG 1 MASTER 1 and ENG 2 MASTER 2 control switches are in the OFF position.
   (4) As necessary, use the applicable SAFETY BARRIERS, specified by the operator's instructions and your local regulations.

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean the bottom skin lower-surface at the front spar:
  • In the area closed by the pylon fairing
  • In the area of the pylon reinforcing plate.

B. Detailed Inspection of Outer-Wing, Bottom Skin Lower Surface at Front Spar masked by Pylon Fairing and Visible Portion of Pylon Reinforcing Plate
   (1) Examine the applicable inspection area.
Make sure that:
  • There is no corrosion or damage
  • There are no scratches or scores
  • There are no loose or damaged fasteners
  • The surface protection is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.
