A. Safety Precautions
WARNING: OBEY THE FUEL SAFETY PROCEDURES.
   (1) Obey the fuel safety precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 28-10-00-910-001).
   (2) Install the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
   (3) Put WARNING NOTICE(S) in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
   (4) Put the SAFETY BARRIER(S) in position.

B. Get Access
WARNING: BEFORE YOU DO WORK IN OR NEAR A FUEL TANK, MAKE SURE THAT YOU OBEY ALL THE SAFETY PROCEDURES. THIS WILL PREVENT INJURY TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
   (1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) in position below zones 521(621) and 540(640).
   (2) Remove the applicable access panels:

A. Preparation for Inspection
   (1) Use a clean Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) , made moist with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) , to clean:
  • the pylon reinforcing plate of the top-skin lower surface.

B. Detailed Inspection of the Outer Wing Top-Skin Lower Surface Pylon Reinforcing-Plate
   (1) Examine the pylon reinforcing-plate of the top-skin lower surface.
Make sure that:
  • there is no corrosion or damage
  • there are no scratches or scores
  • there are no loose or damaged fasteners
  • the surface protection is in the correct condition.
NOTE: If necessary, refer to the SRM 572100 for the correct repair procedure.

A. Close access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
   (2) Install the applicable access panels:

B. Removal of Equipment
   (1) Remove the SAFETY BARRIER(S).
   (2) Remove the access platform(s).
   (3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS from the flap/slat control lever.
   (4) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
   (5) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
