A. Safety Precautions
(1) On FLAPS panel 114VU:
(a) Put the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS in position on the flap/slat control lever.
(b) Put a WARNING NOTICE(S) on the flap/slat control lever to tell persons not to operate the flap/slat control lever.
(2) Obey the fuel safety precautions (Ref. AMM TASK 28-00-00-910-001).

B. Get Access
(1) Put an ACCESS PLATFORM 2M (6 FT) - ADJUSTABLE in position in zone 540 (640).
(2) Remove the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-000-001):

For the left wing: 540AB
For the right wing: 640AB.

(3) Open the RIB2 surge doors:

for the left wing: 540AZ 540BZ
For the right wing: 640AZ 640BZ.

(4) Install the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) on the forward surge doors.
(5) Install the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) on the aft surge doors.
(6) Use a FLASHLIGHT for the inspection, if necessary.

C. Removal of the Component

Upper Half of the Vertical Tee Fitting at the Junction of RIB1 and the Rear Spar of the Outer Wing Box ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Remove the nut to inspect the hole. Refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 514200).

D. Preparation of the Inspection Area
(1) Remove the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area if this is necessary for the Non-destructive Testing Manual (NTM) task.
(2) Make sure that the inspection area is sufficiently clean to do a satisfactory inspection of the area.
(3) If it is not sufficiently clean, clean the inspection area with Non Aqueous Cleaner-General - - (Material No.08BAA9) and Textile-Lint free Cotton - (Material No.14SBA1) .
(4) Make sure that there is no TPS layer and if there is a TPS layer, remove it (Ref. AMM TASK 51-78-00-916-001).

4. Procedure
Subtask 57-10-00-270-054-A

A. Inspection

Upper Half of the Vertical Tee Fitting at the Junction of RIB1 and the Rear Spar of the Outer Wing Box ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Do a special detailed inspection (US) of the upper half of the vertical tee fitting, in the outer wing box for damage or discontinuities. This inspection is applicable at the junction with RIB1 and the rear spar on the left and right sides. Refer to the Non-destructive Testing Manual ( NTM 571185).
(2) Make a report of the damage after the NTM inspection:
(a) Corrosion damage:

If you find corrosion, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 512200) for the corrosion types, inspection, removal and subsequent corrosion protection.

(b) Other damage (scratches, cracks, gouges, dents, creases):

If you find this type of damage, refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 511100) for the damage types, classification and corrective action.

5. Close-up
Subtask 57-10-00-390-055-A

A. Sealant or Paint Application
(1) If the NTM procedure asked to remove the sealant and/or paint from the inspection area, apply sealant (refer to SRM 512400) or paint (refer to SRM 512300) on the inspection area.

B. Installation of the Component

Upper Half of the Vertical Tee Fitting at the Junction of RIB1 and the Rear Spar of the Outer Wing Box ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL

(1) Refer to the installation drawing in the SRM identification section for the new nut references.
(2) Install the nut of the inspected hole. Refer to the Structural Repair Manual ( SRM 514200).

Subtask 57-10-00-410-083-A

C. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Remove the 98D57004014000 HOOK-COVER (RIB2-SURGE DOORS) from the aft surge doors.
(3) Remove the 98D57004013000 HOOK-COVER (RIB 2 SURGE DOORS) from the forward surge doors.
(4) Close the RIB2 surge doors:

For the left wing: 540AZ 540BZ
For the right wing: 640AZ 640BZ.

(5) Install the access panels (Ref. AMM TASK 57-27-11-400-001):

For the left wing: 540AB
For the right wing: 640AB.

D. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
(1) Remove the access platform(s).
(2) Remove the WARNING NOTICE(S).
(3) Remove the 98D27803500001 LOCKING TOOL ZERO POS on the flap/slat control lever.
