3. Job Set-up

A. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration

F Access Panel Location ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Make sure that the aircraft electrical circuits are energized (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
   (2) Make sure that forward belly-fairing panel 191AB is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 53-25-11-000-001).
   (3) Make sure that quick-release access panel 191BB is removed (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-000-002).
   (4) On the panel 30VU make sure that:
     (a) The APU BLEED pushbutton switch is in the off position (the ON legend is off).
     (b) The ENG 1 BLEED and the ENG 2 BLEED pushbutton switches are in the off position (the OFF legends are on).
     (c) The warning notice to tell persons not to operate these pushbutton switches is in position.
   (5) Make sure that the warning notice to tell persons not to supply the ground air is in position on the HP ground connector.

4. Procedure
Subtask 47-11-41-420-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Installation of the IGGS Pallet
WARNING: SUPPORT THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY. THE UNIT/ASSEMBLY IS HEAVY. IF YOU DO NOT SUPPORT IT, IT WILL FALL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS, AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
CAUTION: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU TOUCH THIS ASSEMBLY. IT HAS PRECISION- TOLERANCE COMPONENTS WITH VERY POLISHED SURFACES. IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL, IT IS VERY EASY TO CAUSE DAMAGE TO THESE COMPONENTS (INTERNAL CONTAMINATION, EXTERNAL IMPACT DAMAGE).
   (1) Do a check and adjust the tie rods (22), (21), (23), (20) and (19) to the correct length:
  • tie rod (22) length 141.5 -1 mm or +1 mm (5.5709 -0.0394 in. or +0.0394 in.)
  • tie rod (21) length 234.1 -1 mm or +1 mm (9.2165 -0.0394 in. or +0.0394 in.)
  • tie rod (23) length 258.7 -1 mm or +1 mm (10.1850 -0.0394 in. or +0.0394 in.)
  • tie rod (20) length 523.2 -1 mm or +1 mm (20.5984 -0.0394 in. or +0.0394 in.)
  • tie rod (19) length 554.5 -1 mm or +1 mm (21.8307 -0.0394 in. or +0.0394 in.)
   (2) Prepare for electrical bonding the screw (43), the washer (42) and the bonding strap (39) (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (3) Put the bonding strap (39) and the washer (42) in position, install and torque the screw (43) to between 0.36 and 0.27 m.daN (31.86 and 23.89 lbf.in ) T.
   (4) Prepare for electrical bonding the screw (47), the washer (48) and the bonding strap (44) (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (5) Put the bonding strap (44) and the washer (48) in position, install and torque the screw (47) to between 0.84 and 0.65 m.daN (74.34 and 57.52 lbf.in ) T.
   (6) Put the tie rods (21) and (23) in position on the aircraft structure and install the clips (31).
   (7) Put the tie rod (22) in position on the aircraft structure and install the bolt (30), the washers (29) and the nut (28).
   (8) Get the half-shell 98D47103500044 (50) of the GSE-toolset and install it on the FR 34/35.7 for protection and support of the IGGS pallet.
WARNING: HEAVY WEIGHT. MINIMUM 2 PERSONS OR ASSISTED HANDLING REQUIRED.
     (a) Safety the half-shell (50) with the attachment screw (51).
NOTE: The IGGS pallet weighs approx. 20.9 kg (46.0766 lb).
   (9) Get another person and carefully move the IGGS pallet (25) to its installation position in the aircraft structure.
     (a) Align and support the IGGS pallet (25) correctly on the half-shell (50) until the other person has installed the tie rods (21) and (23) to the IGGS pallet.
   (10) Put the tie rods (21) and (23) in position on the IGGS pallet (25) and install the clips (31).
   (11) Put the tie rods (15), (18), (17) and (26) in position on the aircraft structure and install the bolts (32),
if fitted the washers (33), if fitted the bushings (34),
the washers (35) and the nuts (36).
   (12) Install the air inlet (27) (
Ref. AMM TASK 21-61-51-400-002).
   (13) Install the bracket (16) at the attachment points at the lower end of tie rod (17), (18) and the air inlet (27).
     (a) Apply Polysulfide Sealant-Low Adhesion Brushable - (Material No.06AEA1) between the contact surfaces of the bracket and the pallet.
     (b) Get another person and support the IGGS pallet carefully to align the screw holes of the pallet to the bracket (16). Install the 4 screws (37) and the 4 washers (38).
     (c) TORQUE the screws (37) to between 0.36 and 0.27 m.daN (31.86 and 23.89 lbf.in ) T.
   (14) Remove the half-shell (50) from FR 34/35.7.

   (15) Do a check of the clearance between the IGGS pallet and the aircraft structure.

     (a) Adjust the tie rod (23) and make sure that there is a distance S3 of 31 +2 mm or -2 mm (1.2205 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.) between the IGGS pallet and the belly fairing structure at FR 34/35.7.
     (b) Adjust the tie rod (21) and make sure that:
       1 There is a minimum distance S4 of 25 mm (0.9843 in.) between the IGGS pallet and frame C30/C33/C35.6.
       2 There is a minimum distance S6 of 25 mm (0.9843 in.) between the equipment 6YA of the IGGS pallet and the inner side of the belly fairing panel.

B. Installation of the GSE-tool 98D47103500000 PALLET INERTING RI and final adjustment.
F GSE-TOOL, Pallet Inerting ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
   (1) Install the cross beam assembly 98D47103500042 (52) on the attachment points of the access panel 191AB between FR 30/33/35.6 and FR 34/35.7.
   (2) Install the actuator assembly 98D47103500040 (53) on the cross beam assembly.
NOTE: The stop of the actuator points vertical up to the rod end bearing (24).
   (3) Do the final alignment of the IGGS pallet with the actuator assembly (53).
     (a) Extend the shaft of the actuator until the stop touches the rod end bearing (24). Refer to detail B.
     (b) Apply smoothly a force of 6.1 +0.5 daN or -0.5 daN (13.7133 +1.1240 lbf or -1.1240 lbf) to the rod end bearing (24).
NOTE: The actuator must be engaged until the installation of the final tie rod (22) is completed.
   (4) Adjust the length of the tie rod (22) and attach the rod without stress in position on the pallet. Install the clip (31). Refer to view C.

   (5) Release the tension from the actuator and remove the actuator assembly (53).
   (6) Remove the cross beam assembly (52).
   (7) Make sure that there is a distance S5 of 16 +2 mm or -2 mm (0.6299 +0.0787 in. or -0.0787 in.) between the bracket (16) and the tie rods (17) and (18).
   (8) Put the tie rods (19) and (20) without stress in position on the aircraft structure and the IGGS pallet and install the clips (31).
   (9) Make sure that there is a minimum distance S1 and S2 of 25 mm (0.9843 in.) between the bracket (16) and the tie rods (17) and (18).

C. Installation of the Air Duct Connections and electrical Bonding
   (1) Install the air duct connections.

F Air Duct Connections ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
     (a) Install the bellow (7) and the clamps (6) and (8).
     (b) TORQUE the clamps (6) and (8) to between 0.308 and 0.252 m.daN (27.26 and 22.30 lbf.in ) T.
     (c) Install the flexible hose (10).
     (d) TORQUE the connectors (9) and (11) to between 5.3 and 5.2 m.daN (39.09 and 38.35 lbf.ft )
T.
     (e) Install the flexible hose (13).
     (f) TORQUE the connector (12) to between 15.5 and 12.9 m.daN (114.31 and 95.13 lbf.ft )
T.
     (g) TORQUE the connector (14) to between 9.5 and 7.9 m.daN (70.06 and 58.26 lbf.ft )
T.
   (2) Make sure that there is a minimum distance of 25 mm (0.9843 in.) between all components and equipments of the IGGS pallet and the inner side of the belly fairing panels.
   (3) Prepare the screw (41), the washer (40) and the bonding strap (39) for electrical bonding (
Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (4) Put the bonding strap (39) in position and install the screw (41) and the washer (40).
   (5) Prepare the screw (46), the washer (45) and the bonding strap (44) for electrical bonding (Ref. AMM TASK 20-28-00-912-802).
   (6) Put the bonding strap (44) in position and install the screw (46) and the washer (45).
   (7) Apply Polysulfide Sealant_General Purpose Brushable - (Material No.06AAA1) to the screw heads (41), (43), (46), (47) and the washers (40), (42), (45), (48), and let it dry.
   (8) Apply Varnish-- Electrical Bonding Structure (Material No.04TMB2) to the screw heads (41), (43), (46), (47) , and let it dry.
   (9) Do a check of the maximum bonding value
  • between the IGGS pallet (25) and the primary metal structure of the fuselage.
  • Make sure that the maximum bonding value is not more than 20 milliohms.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE BONDING STRAP(S) IS(ARE) CONNECTED BEFORE YOU CONNECT THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR(S).
   (10) Install the electrical connectors.

     (a) Remove the CAP-BLANKING from each electrical connector and receptacle.
     (b) Make sure that all the electrical connections are clean and in the correct condition.
     (c) Connect the electrical connectors (1), (2), (3), (4) and (5).

E. Leak Test
WARNING: YOU MUST WEAR SAFETY BREATHING EQUIPMENT WHEN YOU DO WORK IN THIS AREA. THIS AREA CAN CONTAIN AIR FROM THE TANK INERTING SYSTEM. AIR FROM THIS SYSTEM HAS A LOW-OXYGEN CONTENT AND CAN CAUSE INJURY AND DEATH.
   (1) Do the two subsequent steps at the same time.
NOTE: Two persons are necessary to do these steps.
     (a) Do the BITE Test of the IGGS with Bleed Air (Ref. AMM TASK 47-31-34-740-001).
     (b) Examine the joints of the bellow (7), the flexible hose (10) and the flexible hose (13) for signs of air leakage.
   (2) If necessary, repair the leaks.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
   (1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
   (2) Install forward belly-fairing panel 191AB (Ref. AMM TASK 53-25-11-400-001).
   (3) Install quick-release access panel 191BB (Ref. AMM TASK 53-35-13-400-002).

B. De-energize the aircraft electrical circuits (Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-862-002).
