NOTE: Make sure that a new Underwater Locator Beacon (ULB) is available for ULB replacement.

(1) Energize the aircraft electrical circuits
(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).

(Ref. AMM TASK 24-41-00-861-002).
B. Get Access
(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 312.
(2) Open access door 312AR.
4. Procedure(1) Put the ACCESS PLATFORM 4M (13 FT)-ADJUSTABLE in position at zone 312.
(2) Open access door 312AR.
Subtask 23-71-35-020-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL
A. Removal of the ULB from the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR)
(1) For CVR Part Number (P/N) 980-6020-XXX (Serial Number (S/N) 3499 and less) or P/N 980-6022-XXX (S/N 2199 and less):
(a) Remove the screws (1) from the clamps (2).
(b) Remove the ULB (3) and the clamps (2) from the mounting cradle (4).
1 If ULB type DK 100 is installed, send the ULB to the vendor to replace the battery.
(2) For CVR P/N 980-6020-XXX (S/N 3500 and more), P/N 980-6022-XXX (S/N 2200 and more) or P/N 980-6032-XXX:
(a) Remove the screws (1) from the clamps (2).
(b) Remove the ULB (3) from the clamps (2).
1 If ULB type DK 100 is installed, send the ULB to the vendor to replace the battery.
Subtask 23-71-35-020-051-CU ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) For CVR Part Number (P/N) 980-6020-XXX (Serial Number (S/N) 3499 and less) or P/N 980-6022-XXX (S/N 2199 and less):
(a) Remove the screws (1) from the clamps (2).
(b) Remove the ULB (3) and the clamps (2) from the mounting cradle (4).
1 If ULB type DK 100 is installed, send the ULB to the vendor to replace the battery.
(2) For CVR P/N 980-6020-XXX (S/N 3500 and more), P/N 980-6022-XXX (S/N 2200 and more) or P/N 980-6032-XXX:
(a) Remove the screws (1) from the clamps (2).
(b) Remove the ULB (3) from the clamps (2).
1 If ULB type DK 100 is installed, send the ULB to the vendor to replace the battery.

(1) Remove the screws (3) from the clamps (2).
(2) Remove the ULB (4) and the clamps (2) from the mounting cradle (1).
(a) If ULB type DK 100 is installed, send the ULB to the vendor to replace the battery.
Subtask 23-71-35-960-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Remove the screws (3) from the clamps (2).
(2) Remove the ULB (4) and the clamps (2) from the mounting cradle (1).
(a) If ULB type DK 100 is installed, send the ULB to the vendor to replace the battery.
B. Discard and replacement of the ULB battery
(1) Send the related ULB battery to the workshop for discard and replace it with the new ULB battery.
Subtask 23-71-35-420-051-B ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) Send the related ULB battery to the workshop for discard and replace it with the new ULB battery.
C. Installation of the ULB on the CVR
(1) For CVR P/N 980-6020-XXX (S/N 3499 and less) or P/N 980-6022-XXX (S/N 2199 and less):
(a) Make sure that the water sensitive switch of the ULB (3) is clean.
(b) Install the ULB (3) in the clamps (2).
(c) Put the ULB (3) and the clamps (2) in their installation position on the mounting cradle (4) and install the screws (1).
(d) Turn the ULB (3) until you can read the battery replacement date.
(e) Tighten the screws (1).
(2) For CVR P/N 980-6020-XXX (S/N 3500 and more), P/N 980-6022-XXX (S/N 2200 and more) or P/N 980-6032-XXX:
(a) Make sure that the water sensitive switch of the ULB (3) is clean.
(b) Install the ULB (3) in the clamps (2).
(c) Turn the ULB (3) until you can read the battery replacement date.
(d) Install the screws (1).
(e) Tighten the screws (1).
Subtask 23-71-35-420-051-CU ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL (1) For CVR P/N 980-6020-XXX (S/N 3499 and less) or P/N 980-6022-XXX (S/N 2199 and less):
(a) Make sure that the water sensitive switch of the ULB (3) is clean.
(b) Install the ULB (3) in the clamps (2).
(c) Put the ULB (3) and the clamps (2) in their installation position on the mounting cradle (4) and install the screws (1).
(d) Turn the ULB (3) until you can read the battery replacement date.
(e) Tighten the screws (1).
(2) For CVR P/N 980-6020-XXX (S/N 3500 and more), P/N 980-6022-XXX (S/N 2200 and more) or P/N 980-6032-XXX:
(a) Make sure that the water sensitive switch of the ULB (3) is clean.
(b) Install the ULB (3) in the clamps (2).
(c) Turn the ULB (3) until you can read the battery replacement date.
(d) Install the screws (1).
(e) Tighten the screws (1).
C. Installation of the ULB on the CVR
(1) Make sure that the water sensitive switch of the ULB (4) is clean.
(2) Install the ULB (4) in the clamps (2).
(3) Put the ULB (4) and the clamps (2) in their installation position on the mounting cradle (1) and install the screws (3).
(4) Turn the ULB (4) until you can read the battery replacement date.
(5) Tighten the screws (3).
Subtask 23-71-35-720-050-A ** ON A/C NOT FOR ALL 5. Close-up(1) Make sure that the water sensitive switch of the ULB (4) is clean.
(2) Install the ULB (4) in the clamps (2).
(3) Put the ULB (4) and the clamps (2) in their installation position on the mounting cradle (1) and install the screws (3).
(4) Turn the ULB (4) until you can read the battery replacement date.
(5) Tighten the screws (3).

A. Close Access
(1) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
(2) Close access door 312AR.
(3) Remove the access platform(s).
